MERLIN AND THE CAVE OF DREAMS
We are delighted to announce that this year’s Christmas show will be
Charles Way’s acclaimed work ‘Merlin and the Cave of Dreams’, a
version of the Arthurian legend nominated for a Helen Hayes award for
Outstanding New Play of the Year 2004.
The story draws from European mythology to trace Arthur’s journey
from discovering the true identity of his parents to drawing Excalibur
from the stone and becoming King. From a young age Arthur is
influenced by the powerful magician, Merlin, who helps him to journey
through the Underworld and to overcome difficult challenges – such as
those provided by the Dragon, and the Knight of the Mirrors.
Charles Way has written more than 40 plays since 1978, his output
including many highly ranked pieces for children. His work has been
performed all over the world, and we are delighted to be bringing
‘Merlin and the Cave of Dreams’ to the Maddermarket from
December 18 – January 3.
