Since 1921, the Maddermarket Theatre has produced hundreds of plays and musicals to the highest standards, entertaining and delighting the people of Norwich and Norfolk – people just like you.

YOU ARE WELCOME TO HELP IN AS MANY AREAS AS YOU WISH

Every event at the Maddermarket Theatre is the work of enthusiastic volunteers, ranging from actors, directors, technicians, stage staff, and costume makers to box office staff, bar staff and stewards.

High standards are expected and maintained by a professional full-time staff which includes a Director of Productions, Administrative staff, Wardrobe Master, Technical Manager, Stage Manager and Education Officer plus freelance Designers, Choreographers and Musical Directors.

Rehearsals range from 4 to 6 intensive weeks and each production is performed for 8 to 10 performances, more for the Christmas show. If you have energy and a willingness to learn how, the Maddermarket can show you.

Experience is useful and commitment is essential but you will be part of a great experience, meeting new friends and challenging yourself to go that extra mile.

THEATRE TRAINING FOR ACTORS

Acting training is available (at minimal cost) from our qualified tutors – our aim is to create versatile and resourceful team players. Actors for our in-house shows are eligible for free individual tuition sessions (This is only available to those who have been cast and who are recommended by their directors).

At a time when theatres allover the country are facing ultimate last nights, the Maddermarket Theatre survives by virtue of the generosity and loyalty of our supporters.

To ensure our encores in the future we need your help through sponsorship, donations, covenants and legacies and to this end we are appealing to local businesses and individuals. We have a full programme of events and facilities for you and your company to make use of and enjoy.

The Maddermarket's Name a Seat Campaign
We want every night out at the Maddermarket to be comfortable as well as enjoyable. Our seats have now been completely renewed.

For a one off payment of £150 per seat, you or your company can name a seat for yourself, in memory of someone, or as a surprise gift for a friend or colleague. For your £150 a brass plaque will be engraved with your chosen name and attached to a seat in the theatre. There is also be a "Roll of Honour" in the foyer.

YOU GET various discounts, Friends' events, the Theatre's monthly newsletter and the warm glow of supporting a worthwhile cause; WE GET - your support.

ALL friends funds are currently going to improving the comfort and efficiency of the Theatre’s backstage facilities including the provision of showers

Your annual subscription costs just £10 single or £15 double. The Theatre would greatly value your help.
